Tumbbad 2: Sohum Shah starrer Tumbbad has been re-released in the theatres after six years. The horror flick was not well received at the box office. However, as soon as it was released on OTT everyone hailed the direction and narrative. To experience the movie in the theatres, around 20,000 tickets were sold in advance booking by September 12. Now, as the movie has hit the theatres, the makers have confirmed the sequel in the re-release cut towards the end of the movie.

Hastar is all set to return as the makers on Friday announced the sequel via re-release of  Tumbbad. An X user shared a photo of the screen that reads, "Tumbbad 2 coming soon".

Earlier, in an interview with a portal, Sohum hinted that he is gearing up for the sequel of Tumbbad. He shared that he along with his team gave six years to the sequel, which will present a totally different story from the original. However, the sequel will be a continuation of the first instalment and will follow the concept of immortality with the character of Pandurang, the son of Vinayak Rao (played by Mohammad Samad).

What is the plot of Tumbbad?

Starring Sohum Shah in the lead role as Vinayak Rao, it follows the story of his search for a hidden 20th-century treasure in the Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra . Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the movie also stars Harsh K, Jyoti Malshe, Anita Date-Kelkar, Ronjini Chakraborty and Mohammad Samad, in pivotal roles. Tumbbad was reportedly made on a budget of ₹50 million. It earned ₹6.5 million on its opening day at the box office and saw an increase in the collection after positive word of mouth. At the end of its nine-week theatrical run, Tumbbad earned a total of ₹136 million.
