The actor was last seen in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga opposite Sonam Kapoor. The Citylights actor’s box-office collections on multiple occasions have proved that he is a phenomenal actor. Rajkummar will be seen starring in Hansel Mehta’s next, Turram Khan, which is scheduled to release on January 31, 2020. Shahid (2013)
Shahid was an Indian Hindi biographical drama that was directed by Hansal Mehta. The movie was based on the real-life story of human rights activist and a lawyer Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated in 2010. The film stars Rajkummar Rao in the prominent role; and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Prabhleen Sandhu and Baljinder Kaur in supporting roles. The movie was premiered at various film festivals including Toronto Film Festival, 14th Mumbai Film Festival to name a few.
Citylights (2014)
Citylights is an Indian drama directed by Hansal Mehta and was presented by Fox Star Studios in association with Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. The movie starred Rajkummar Rao and Pratralekha in prominent roles. The movie was based on the life of a poor farmer that comes to Mumbai in search of livelihood. The total box office collection of the movie was ₹ 7.68 crores. The movie was appreciated for the acting skills of the actors.
Aligarh (2016)
Aligarh is a biographical drama that starred Rajkummar Rao and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles. The movie was directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Apurva Asrani. The film received a standing ovation at 20th Busan International Film Festival. The movie was based on the real-life story of Ramchandra Siras, a Marathi professor at Aligarh Muslim University, who was suspended on grounds of morality. Omerta (2017)
Omerta is an Indian crime drama film directed by Hansal Mehta. The movie stars Rajkummar Rao in the role of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British terrorist of Pakistani descent. The movie plot revolves around the 1994 kidnappings of Westerners in India for which Omar was arrested. And another angle of the movie was a plot of the murder of Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002. The movie was featured at various film festivals including Toronto International Film Festival, the Mumbai Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival to name a few.
