Uljah Box Office Collection Day 1: Janhvi Kapoor Starrer Gets A Poor Start, Mints ₹1.10 Crore

Ulajh starring Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah hit the theatres on August 2. The movie clashed with Ajay Devgn and Tabu's highly anticipated movie Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha at the Indian box office. Owing to this, the movie failed to create an impact on the opening day. Helmed by Sudhanshu Saria, the movie earned mixed reviews from the critics and audience and it reflected in the first-day earnings.

The spy thriller minted ₹1.10 crore at the domestic box office, early estimates reported by Sacnilk. Ulajh had an overall 13.02 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday with the maximum reported in Chennai (32.33 per cent). The movie might have earned mixed reviews but what remained common was they lauding Janhvi and Gulshan's performance.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave one and a half stars to the movie and called it "uninteresting". He further wrote that the movie tried to blend thrills and suspense, but it neither surprised nor engaged. "The plot had potential, but clichés and predictable twists spoil the show… #JanhviKapoor and #GulshanDevaiah’s performances stand out in this otherwise uninteresting narrative," he added.

An X user wrote, "#Ulajh' is a total mess. It has talented actors, & #JhanviKapoor too... The film ends with an open ending hinting at a sequel, which I’m not interested in. It's a big disappointment to watch in the theater. Stay away for your own good."

However, a section of the internet lauded Janhvi for her performance in the movie. "With #Ulajh, #JanhviKapoor has literally proved herself as an actor. Especially, her performance in the climax has all my heart," wrote a movie buff on X.

Apart from Janhvi and Gulshan, the movie also stars Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang and Adil Hussain in the lead roles. The plot focuses on a young IFS officer with a legacy of patriots in her family, entangled in a dangerous personal conspiracy amidst a career-defining post far away from her home.
