Nitin Gokhale, who had accused the makers of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ of copyright infringement, has stated that the team took too many cinematic liberties to showcase several ‘unrealistic’ aspects in the movie. However, he praised the action sequences and the lead actor, Vicky Kaushal.
Gokhale took to Twitter on Monday to convey his views after watching the movie. He stated that the makers used too many creative liberties to show ‘unreal’ planning of the operations and ‘disregard’ for hierarchy.

However, the author-journalist praised the action sequences and the fact that there was no overt jingoism. He singled out Vicky Kaushal for ‘looking the part’ and the uncanny resemblance of the character based on the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. He described Yami Gautam’s character as ‘unreal.’
However, he stated that the movie opens up a genre, if it would’ve been ‘more real.’ He added that that ‘big disappointment’ was how the operation room setting, officers’ quarters and military sequences weren’t close to reality, something that the team helping the makers on it should have taken care of.

Gokhale also shared a link of a documentary that was made with the help of the book on the surgical strikes and asked his followers to compare the two to come to a conclusion.

In his complaint, he had alleged the team had used contents of his book ‘Securing India - The Modi Way, Pathankot, Surgical Strikes And More' without giving him due credit.
The concerned parties arrived at a settlement a day before the movie release after the makers agreed to pay him an amount, kept confidential according to terms agreed by both the parties.
