Veteran actress-director Vijaya Nirmala passes away at 73

Veteran Telugu actress and director G Vijaya Nirmala died at a private hospital here following a brief illness, hospital authorities said on Thursday.

Veteran Telugu actress and director G Vijaya Nirmala passed away at a private hospital here following a brief illness, hospital authorities said on Thursday. She was 73-years-old. 

She bread her last at Continental Hospital in Gachibowli where she was undergoing treatment on Wednesday night. Wife of veteran actor Krishna and step-mor of current Telugu star Mahesh Babu, Vijaya Nirmala entered Guinness Book of World Records as female director with most number of movies to her credit.

Born on February 20, 1946, in Tamil Nadu, she entered film industry at of seven and has acted in over 200 movies in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. She has also directed movies in Telugu and or langus also.

late actress's son, Naresh VK informed  Vijaya Nirmala fans and loved ones about her sad demise in wee hours of morning on Twitter. 

Telangana BJP chief K Laxman also conveyed his condolences to members of bereaved family and tweeted: "We are deeply saddened by sudden demise of veteran actress and director Vijaya Nirmala garu. A huge loss to Telugu film industry. Condolences to her family & friends... Om Shanti."

Messs have been pouring in after actress' sad demise. 

"Vijaya Nirmala Garu was a pioneering filmmaker whose life is an inspiration for many. Extremely saddened to hear  news. Extending my deepest condolences to her family," he tweeted.
