Vijay Varma Says 'Hiding' Relationship With Tamannaah Bhatia Is Like Feeling 'Caged'

Tamannaah Bhatia-Vijay Varma: The actors have been dating for more than a year now. In a refreshing change for the industry, the actors were open about their relationship from the very beginning. They would often talk about each other fondly and be seen in public together without any qualms. In a new interview, the Jaane Jaan actor shared why he decided to go public with the romance despite it not being the industry norm.

'It takes a lot of effort to hide a relationship,' says Vijay Varma

In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on the latter's podcast, the actor was asked the reason behind him revealing his romance in public. The actor admitted that it takes more energy for him to hide the romance than to go public with it. He also called it ‘restrictive'.

The actor shared, “I think we were both aligned on the fact that if we like to spend time together and if we like each other, then there is no need to hide this. It takes a lot of effort to hide a relationship. You cannot go out together, your friends cannot your photos. I don’t like such restrictions. It wasn’t like I wanted to be out there, but I just didn’t want to be caged. I didn’t want to cage my feelings.”

In the same conversation, Vijay added that even though he and Tamannaah have gone public with their romance, there are several parts of the relationship that is kept hidden. He shared that they have over 5000 photos with each other which they have not shared online or made public. He reasoned that he keeps those memories close to his heart.

Adding to this, Vijay shared, “Today, in our society, everybody is interested in other people’s lives. Sabke andar ek bua baithi hai (there is a gossipy aunt in everyone) who only wants to discuss this (relationships). This has become a disease, and you can’t do anything about it. I can’t change that. As far as my work is concerned, I do receive appreciation for my work after they release. I cannot deny that.”
