In April 2018, actor-singer Meesha Shafi accused singer-turned-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Post which Zafar had filed a defamation lawsuit against Shafi. Post her accusation, several women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment. In response to Shafi ’s claims, Zafar took to Twitter and stated that he is aware of #MeToo movement that has encourd women to share ir horrific stories.  He wrote, “I categorically deny any and all claims of harassment lodged against me by Ms. Shafi. I intend to take this through courts of law and to address this professionally and seriously, rar than to lodge any allegations here.”

And w a few hours back, Ali Zafar took to his Instagram handle and issued a statement to clarify that Shafi’s case against him has been “dismissed alongside appeal made against dismissal.”

statement read: "Meesha Shafi’s case against me has been dismissed alongside appeal made against dismissal. case in court is my case against her to pay for dams that her false statement has caused me which naturally she’s trying to run from. I have also filed a case against all fake and or accounts being used to run a campaign against me on social media. It’s time to expose truth via due process of law for which I urge FIA to take strict legal action." [sic]

“I can’t believe that anyone can come forward and accuse someone who’s incent and decent, has worked hard for over two decades – solely on social media. Those who accused me levelled allegations for personal gains and n went to Canada. truth is that I was targeted for personal gains. I don’t kw wher by doing this she wanted to become ar Malala and get fame abroad,” he stated during media interaction outside session court in Lahore.

He also wrote on his Twitter: '#Malala is a true warrior who stands for truth and justice having made great sacrifices. Meesha cant become her by lying and running away from justice hiding behind fake profiles on social media. #FaceCourtMeeshaShafi" [sic]
