As people around the world marked International Day of the Girl Child on Thursday, October 11, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra joined an initiative to support the cause. The actress who is working with YouTube to highlight the impact of educating girls in India, took to Twitter to share a video in which she appealed to the audience to give girls a deserving chance at every prospect.
Sharing the clip on Twitter, the 36-year-old captioned the post saying, "Let them raise their voices so they achieve their dreams. This #InternationalDayOfTheGirlChild, @YouTubeIndia, @UNICEFIndia and I want to help little girls get an education to build a brighter, more secure future."

Moreover, as per ANI, Priyanka, who is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, in an official Google blog post wrote, "Today, on October 11, 2018, International Day of the Girl Child, I have teamed up with YouTube to highlight the importance of educating a girl child. What I love about it is that through this campaign, viewers will be directly linked to stories from NGOs making an impact all across the nation."

'The Sky is Pink' actress reportedly further mentioned about her decade-long association with UNICEF and talked about how the collaboration has been working towards empower girl child and to ensure their access to education.
"The statistics staring at us may be staggering but then, let us not focus on how big the numbers are. Worldwide, over 250 million children and youth are out of school, so the battle is global. Which means, more effort from all of us as a responsible society," she wrote in the post.

Reportedly, she further added how before sending more girls to school, one must ensure fewer dropouts and empower every girl child's dream.
The annual event of celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child was an initiative taken up by the United Nations (UN) in 2012 to address issues faced by women across the globe including gender inequality, harassment, child marriage, etc. This year, the theme is focused on helping girls overcome adversity.
