Bollywood has come of age in recent years, not just with kissing and sex scenes becoming more common, but also by making films with scripts on the so-called ‘taboo’ topics. After sperm donation in ‘Vicky Donor’, erectile dysfunction in ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, the latest is based on a traditional form of a sex clinic, ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’.

The film is about Sonakshi Sinha’s character, who inherits this 'Khandaani Shafakhana' from her uncle in Punjab, as informed by Annu Kapoor. Initially reluctant, but attracted by its earning potential, she decides to run it. As she gets going, she is faced with not just discouragement from Varun Sharma’s character, but also different men having different kinds of problems and different names for them.
With the taboo on sex, the people of the city look at her as if she is a criminal. She takes it upon herself to take the stigma out of sex. Later, she even takes her ‘Khandaani Shafakhana’ on the streets to prove that 130 crore Indians weren’t just born by having ‘Prasad wale kele’. She even tries to get a popular pop artist played by Badshah, to help in her mission. His reluctance further adds to the fun-filled chaos.

The film seems to be in the same space as the aforementioned films, that deals with sex-related topics, riding on witty dialogues of the middle-class characters. Sonakshi, Varun and Badshah, who makes his debut, look perfect for their parts, and it’d be interesting to see if the quirky premise makes for an entertaining film.
