Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor made their debut in Bollywood with Saawariya in 2007. Even before their debut movie, the duo assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his movie Black in 2005. Ranbir and Sonam belong to two famous Bollywood families and are also family friends. During Saawariya, the two seemed to share an affectionate bond, and there were strong rumours about them being in a relationship.

Did Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor date? 

During the Saawariya promotions, Ranbir and Sonam were often seen complimenting each other at every interview they gave. Ranbir once complimented Sonam on her beauty and smartness in an interview during the movie promotions. Ranbir was asked whether he ever felt a brotherly feeling towards Sonam as both the families were quite close to each other. Ranbir reportedly denied this and reportedly said that he found Sonam incredibly beautiful. He also added that the best thing about Sonam is that she is good at heart and is full of positive vibes.

Ranbir continued showering Sonam with praises in consequent interviews. Sonam returned the favour but in a subtle way. Sonam said that Ranbir was a ladies’ man and was always chased by his female fans. Sonam also commented on the kind of connection and relationship that they share. She further divulged that Ranbir was very friendly on the set and constantly pulled her leg during the shoot. Their banter during the interviews and the chemistry that they shared on-screen made the audience believe that the couple were dating. However, neither of the actors confirmed nor denied these speculations.

The Reunion: 

Post Saawariya’s release and its failure at the box office, Ranbir and Sonam were not seen together, either on-screen or off-screen for a long time. However, they reunited later for the movie Sanju. Sonam was seen in a cameo role as Ranbir’s girlfriend in the movie. The duo reunited 10 years after their debut movie for Sanju. During Sanju’s promotions, Ranbir said that the only change he sees in Sonam is that she has just become a better actor. Whether the actors dated or not during Saawariya is still unclear. However, they continue to be good friends to date. Ranbir was even present during Sonam's wedding celebrations to be a part of all the festivities.
