crime thriller, released on August 29 on Netflix, is trending on X for all wrong reasons. netizens have pointed out that makers have changed names of hijackers in series to Shankar, Bhola, Burger, Doctor and Chief. ir original names were Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Sayed, Sunny, Ahm Qazi, Zahoor Mistry and Shakir. Calling in for a boycott of series and Netflix, y accused makers of "whitewashing" events.

A user on X wrote, "Names of IC814 Hijackers changed to Shankar & Bhola by @anubhavsinha This is how Bollywood let TERRORISTS WIN: #BoycottBollywood."

Ar tagged MIB and Amit Shah in post, and wrote, "This is just t acceptable @MIB_India @MIB_Hindi @AmitShahOffice @PMOIndia. This is insulting to nation at large. propagandists are biggest perpetrators of crime against national security and unity. #BoycottIC814."

Soon after boycott moment intensified on X, casting director Mukesh Chhabra issued a clarification over identity change and said that y did proper research before making series. "I am reing so many tweets about names of hijackers. We did proper research. y used to call each or by those names—nicknames or fake names, whatever you want to call m. And thank you, everyone, for loving ensemble cast. A big thank you to my team, and especially to Anubhav Sinha for trusting us and giving me freedom to explore (sic)," Chhabra wrote on X.
