Yami has appeared in a few Telugu, Kanna, Punjabi, and Tamil films before she stepped into Bollywood. Her far is a director in Punjabi film industry, but Yami never featured in his movies. However, her journey towards climbing lder of success was t that easy. She played le role in a television show Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam that aired on television. She took ball in her court after she featured in a reality show named Meethi Choori 1. It was n reported that Shoojit Sircar was over-whelmed by Yami’s performance in reality show and signed her for his film Vicky Dor, which happened to be Yami’s first Bollywood debut. Vicky Dor was highest-grossing film during year of its release.

After Vicky Dor, 30 year old h her ups and downs in industry. Starting from 2014, Yami Gautam has portrayed a series of characters. She played le character in movies like Total Siyappa and Action Jackson, which reportedly failed to make a mark at box office. She n starred in Sanam re and Juoniyat. Unfortunately, both films crashed at box office.
