Yami Gautam paved her way into Bollywood with her debut film, Vicky Donor, in 2012 alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. Yami received the 'Best Female Debut Award' for her role in the same. The actor, today, is widely known for her quintessence in acting and her charming smile. Here is a look at Yami’s journey to being the successful actor she is today.

Yami Gautam before her Bollywood debut

Yami has appeared in a few Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, and Tamil films before she stepped into Bollywood. Her father is a director in the Punjabi film industry, but Yami never featured in his movies. However, her journey towards climbing the ladder of success was not that easy. She played the lead role in a television show Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam that aired on television. She took the ball in her court after she featured in a reality show named Meethi Choori No 1. It was then reported that Shoojit Sircar was over-whelmed by Yami’s performance in the reality show and signed her for his film Vicky Donor, which happened to be Yami’s first Bollywood debut. Vicky Donor was the highest-grossing film during the year of its release.

All about Yami Gautam’s Bollywood journey

After Vicky Donor, the 30 year old had her ups and downs in the industry. Starting from 2014, Yami Gautam has portrayed a series of characters. She played the lead character in movies like Total Siyappa and Action Jackson, which reportedly failed to make a mark at the box office. She then starred in Sanam re and Junooniyat. Unfortunately, both the films crashed at the box office. Her films Kaabil and Sarkar 3 again did not do well with the critics. The actress then appeared in Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike, which went on to be one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. In an interview earlier, the actor had mentioned that there is no journey without failure and that she would keep trying to give her best with every passing film. As of now, Yami is gearing up for her upcoming flick Bala, which reunites her with Ayushmann after five years.
