The Bombay High Court Friday, on Friday, December 28, gave a thumbs up to the Sunburn music festival in Pune under applied terms and conditions. The court allowed to hold the annual music festival provided that norms about noise pollution and prohibition of underage drinking are followed during the three-day event. As per ANI, a vacation bench of Justice Bharati Dangre directed local police and civic authorities to ensure that noise norms and other laws are followed at the electronic dance music (EDM) event.

A PIL has been filed against Pune's SunBurn Festival in the Bombay High Court earlier this year. The petitioner, who is reportedly a BJP corporator who has raised concerns over noise pollution and underage drinking at the event. It also pointed out that the International film festival violates Supreme Court's order that allowed loudspeakers and bursting of crackers only from 8 pm to 10 pm and continues to play music loudly from 3 pm till late at night.

It further appealed to the Supreme Court to direct the authorities to ensure that noise pollution norms are followed by the organizers of the event The PIL also wanted the court to prohibit consumption of alcohol by underage revellers at the event. The court noted that consumption of alcohol by those below the legally permissible age is already prohibited. It directed the local authorities to ensure that there is no violation of the law in this respect. 

The much-awaited festival is scheduled to take place in Pune from December 29-31. This year the organizers are celebrating 12 years of the Music Festival and revealed that more artists are added to the list this year.
