Mangey Khan, Rajasthani Folk Singer Who Featured In Coke Studio Season 3, Dies At 49
Rajasthani folk singer Mangey Khan, the lead singer of Barmer Boys, was known for his soulful voice in the songs Challa Challa and Pir Jalani.
Mangey Khan, the popular Rajasthani folk singer, died at the age of 49 on September 10. Affectionately known as Manga was the lead vocalist and the voice of Amarrass Records’ band, Barmer Boys. He recently underwent heart surgery. He also featured on Season 3 of Coke Studio on MTV Indian with his band.
Amarrass Records confirmed the news and shared a statement on their social media handle calling Khan one of the "finest vocalists from the Manganiyar community".

Taking to its official Instagram handle, the organisation shared several candid photos of Mangey Khan and penned a heartfelt note. "With profound grief and an aching heart, we are sharing the tragic news of the sudden demise of Manga (Mangey Khan), the lead vocalist and the voice of Amarrass Records’ band, Barmer Boys. Manga, as he was lovingly called, was one of the finest vocalists from the Manganiyar community, at the peak of his career and with decades of concerts, sold-out shows and loud applause ahead of him," read the statement.
"His voice danced effortlessly at the high register that Manganiyar music demands. It was powerful but also sweet, like a birdsong. We will miss hearing it live, we will miss his smile, we will miss Manga, our friend," the statement read further.

"Mangey's passing leaves a void that can't be filled. He was a dear friend, and an amazing soul with an extraordinary voice. His tragic death at such a young age is a huge loss not just for his family and us, but for the music world. A voice that can never be replaced," Ashutosh Sharma, founder of Amarrass Records, said.
All about Mangey Khan
He performed over 200 concerts in 20 countries, including some of the most prestigious festivals in the world - Roskilde (Denmark), Clockenflap (Hong Kong), Winnipeg Folk Festival (Canada), Music Meeting (Netherlands), OFFest (Macedonia), Respect Festival (Prague), FMM Sines (Portugal), Festival de la Citè (Lassaune, Switzerland), Ziro Music Festival (India) to name a few. Sharma said they spoke on his way to the hospital and the singer told him, "Tabiyat-Zordaar, miltey hain operation ke baad. (I'm feeling great, let's meet post operation)". He is known for songs such as Bole To Mitho Lage, Amrano, Ranaji and Pir Jalani with fellow band members Sawai Khan and Magada Khan.
The musician is survived by his wife and three children.
