Suhasini Deshpande, a senior Marathi actress, died at her Pune home. Her last rites are scheduled to take place today, August 28, at the Vaikunth crematorium. Deshpande is known for giving several memorable performances in the Marathi movies, such as Katha, Bakal, Chhanda Preeticha, Aai Shapath and Chiranjeev.

The late actress started her acting career at the age of 12 and went on to star in over 100 movies in her career spanning 70 years. She has worked in movies, such as Maanachan Kunku (1981), Katha (1983), Ranragini (2004), Ami Dhoge Raja Rani (1986), Dalimbi (1982) and Katha (1983). In addition to her contribution to the Marathi film industry. she has also starred in Bollywood. Her final appearance was in director Rohit Shetty's 2011 blockbuster cop-drama Singham. In Ajay Devgn starrer she played the role of Kajal Aggarwal's grandmother.
She was also honoured with the Jayant Rao Tilak Smriti Jeevangaurav Award by the Pune Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad in 2015. The award celebrated her lifetime achievements in drama and cinema.
