Balika Vadhu star Avika Gor recently opened up about foraying into films in south after her work in television and said she wanted to do something bigger.

Balika Vadhu became a rage among the netizens for its social cause when it began in 2008 and went on for many years until the makers decided to unveil its last episode in 2016. Avika Gor rose to fame with her performances in this show and Sasural Simar Ka. Let’s know Avika’s journey from TV to films.

Avika Gor’s switch to films from TV

After carving a niche for herself on Indian television with shows including Balika Vadhu, Sasural Simar Ka and Laado – Veerpur Ki Mardani. Avika Gor ventured into Tollywood with 2013's film Uyyala Jampala. Following the Nagarjuna-produced film, the list of Avika Gor's Telugu movies included Lakshmi Raave Maa Intiki, Cinema Choopistha Mava and Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada to name a few.

In an exclusive conversation with  Republic Digital , Gor discusses her involvement in the ‘legacy’ film 1920, her equation with Vikram Bhatt, and the challenges she faces as an outsider in the industry.

She said that she considered this film as an opportunity that might not have come knocking again. She also mentioned that she made sure not to take it for granted, For an outsider, gaining access is the biggest struggle. We are often unaware of audition opportunities and which films are being made.

All about Avika Gor

Avika Gor became a household name after her portrayal of Anandi in Balika Vadhu. Apart from Balika Vadhu, she has played in other TV shows including Laado, Mansion 24, Vadhuvu.

Post her successful stint in TV shows, she shifted to films including Thanu Nenu, Care of Footpath 2, Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada, Natasaarvabhowma, 10th Class Diaries, Thank You and 1920: Horrors of the Heart among others. Avika Gor was last seen in Bloody Ishq. The horror thriller featured Vardhan Puri in the lead role. The film premiered on July 26.
