Coldplay Frontman Chris Martin Reveals Bands' Retirement Plans, Fans Call It 'End Of An Era'
Coldplay Retirement: Amid the worldwide fanfare surrounding the band's world tour, Chris Martin has confirmed that they will retire after recording 12 albums.
Coldplay Retirement: The Up & Up hitmaking pop band is currently on their World Tour. The band is one of the most known in the music space, sparking a fan frenzy with their live gigs. The latest testament to this is the band's concert in Mumbai which continues to make news a week after the tickets went live and were sold out immediately. However, in a setback for fans, the band's frontman Chris Martin has hinted at retirement.
Coldplay to retire soon?
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, in a recent interview, has cleared the air on the band's retirement. The singer shared that all popular and most loved artists retired at the right time, making them legendary. He cited examples of Bob Marley and the Beatles.
During the interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Chris shared that the band will retire after recording 12 studio albums. For the unversed, Coldplay already has 9 studio albums and the 10th will be released on October 4. He shared, “We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that’s real. Having that limit means the quality control is so high right now and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be coasting, we're trying to improve.”
Justifying the reason for the same, Chris shared, “There’s only seven Harry Potter. There’s only 12 ½ Beatles' albums, there’s about the same for Bob Marley, so all our heroes.” Martin also mentioned that the band members desired to have a space outside the band which is why retirement is even more necessary. He added, “To make an album great as a band, it’s such a lot of wrangling of people, and I want to give the others some of their life for themselves."
Fans react to the news of Coldplay's retirement
As soon as the Chris Martin interview went live, fans of Coldplay took to their social media accounts to share their disappointment with the news of retirement. The highly anticipated Coldplay India concert, is scheduled to be held from January 19 to 21, 2025, at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
