Dhoom 4: Ranbir Kapoor, Suriya As Villain; Ayan Mukerji As Director - Rumours About YRF Franchise

The buzz around Dhoom 4 has been growing steadily, especially since the last instalment, Dhoom 3, hit screens in 2013. However, the talks have often faded as no official confirmation followed. But, recently, Dhoom celebrated its 20th anniversary on August 27, which has revived all the rumours again. Reports suggest that Tamil actor Suriya is in discussions to play the antagonist, though an official announcement is still awaited.

All the rumours about Dhoom 4 to date

It began with the release of a special post celebrating Dhoom's 20th anniversary, featuring a video compilation. The caption read, "2004 – The year it all began… Thrilling heists, edge-of-the-seat action, and an unforgettable album. Celebrating 20 years of this iconic blockbuster. #20YearsOfDhoom."

In August, reports surfaced that YRF is officially developing the next film, with Aditya Chopra leading the project, and Sridhar Raghavan and Vijay Krishna Acharya as the main writers.

Adding to the excitement, a Bollywood Hungama report suggested that Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji would take charge of Dhoom 4 after completing War 2, which is expected to wrap up by November 2024. Dhoom 4 is anticipated to be released in mid-2025.

By September, rumours about the casting began to circulate, with speculation that Ranbir Kapoor was being considered for the role of the villain, alongside another well-known actor.

Abhishek refuses to confirm rumours, Suriya roped in?

In a 2023 interview, Abhishek Bachchan mentioned that he had no knowledge of any confirmed developments regarding the film, adding that if it were in progress, producer Aditya Chopra would have informed him. A few days later, further reports suggested that Ranbir Kapoor was still being considered for the villain’s role.

Recently, Tamil star Suriya has also been reportedly approached for a role in Dhoom 4. A source told the Deccan Herald that discussions with the actor were ongoing, but it was too early to confirm anything as Suriya is currently committed to other projects. An official announcement is expected once negotiations progress.

Dhoom 4: Nothing confirmed yet

As of now, no details have been confirmed regarding the other cast members or the full crew of Dhoom 4. According to reports, the makers are still in the process of finalizing the lead cast and script. 

However, the involvement of key filmmakers and Suriya's potential role has certainly raised expectations.
