Along with minting money at box-office, film also served as an inspiration to many upcoming films based on a similar concept. According to online database IMDb, extensive sets of rural Tamil Nu and prison were erected by makers in Chennai. Moreover, real bulls from Murai and nearby districts were transported to Chennai for bullfight sequences that featured in Virumandi. t only that, but title of movie was also embroiled in several controversies. In wake of political pressure coming along Haasan’s way, he changed title of movie.

Initially, action-movie was supposed to be released under name Sandiyar, but later it was changed to Virumandi. Along with changing titles, makers also h to shift shooting locations. For scenes that showcased Jallikattu aka bullfighting also evoked disputes in production. makers recreated entire set to Murai to shoot scenes.

About Virumandi

Helmed by Kamal Haasan, action-drama chronicled story of two prison inmates whose interviews created quite a stir in society. first person Kothala var (Played by Pasupathy) was serving a life sentence while or Virumandi (Played by Haasan), is sentenced to be hanged till death. However, during ir interview both criminals unveil horrific events that led m to prison.

This movie is also very close to Kamal’s heart, as he wrote,
