Dussehra has gone without fireworks at the box office. All festive releases that hit the big screens in and around this time were expected to do well, but none of the movies, despite their good promotions, have failed to draw the audiences to the cinema halls. As a result, another festival has gone by without any returns at the ticket window. Among the duds are big ticket releases - Alia Bhatt 's Jigra, Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan, Rajkummar Rao's Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Dhruva Sarja's Martin.

Jigra

Caught up in controversies, Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra has turned out to be a big fail at the box office. Made on a reported budget of ₹80 crore, with Alia's fees alone ranging ₹10-12 crore, the jailbreak drama is struggling at the ticket window with just ₹23.6 crore collection in India. Despite promotions in Telugu, Jigra has collected ₹18 lakh in eight days since its release, hinting that the film is a no-draw down South.

Vettaiyan

Made on an estimated budget of ₹250 crore, of which ₹125 crore was charged by Rajinikanth alone, Thalaivar's collaboration with TJ Gnanvel of Jai Bhim fame has failed commercially. After nine days, it has collected a little less than ₹125 crore in India in all languages. Despite Amitabh Bachchan being a part of the cast, Vettiayan's Hindi business has not even crossed the ₹5 crore mark. Despite high expectations, the film has been declared a box office flop and is probably headed towards disaster status.

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video

After the blockbuster success of Stree 2, all eyes were on Rajkummar Rao starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. The fresh pairing of the Newton actor opposite Animal fame Triptii Dimri has also added a layer of anticipation to the film. However, the rom-com has been struggling at the box office since its release. It is performing a little better than its Bollywood counterpart Jigra, but the mixed reviews have not helped the film pull audiences to cinema halls. The film's India collection stands at ₹28.4 crore in eight days.

Martin

Dhruva Sarja starrer Kannada action film Martin also released on Dussehra. It was subjected to immense trolling, with many taking potshots at its over-the-top action scenes. It did manage to attract audiences to the cinema halls initially, but after bad reviews and negative word-of-mouth, it bombed.

With Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera in the past, all eyes will be on Diwali releases - Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again.
