This song was written during the filming of 8 Mile film in 2002. Throughout, it channels the intensity of Em’s character, ‘B-Rabbit’ preparing for a rap battle. Eminem’s third album, The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, is emotionally dark, focusing on Marshall’s problems with drug abuse,  his troubles with his ex-wife and the newly found celebrity status. The track is framed as a series of fan letters- each growing increasingly angry, culminating with the narrator driving his car with his girlfriend bound in his trunk into a lake. ‘Sing from the Moment” is one of the rapper’s finest lyrical achievements. He defends himself against crucifying critic, pissed off journalists and outraged parents who thought that his rhymes promote violence amongst American youth. "They say music can alter moods and talk to you / Well, can it load a gun up for you and cock it too?" is the lyrics of the famous track.
