Eurovision 2023 to be held in UK on behalf of Ukraine amid ongoing war against Russia

The Eurovision Song Contest organisers were recently in talks with the BBC about the possibility of hosting the upcoming contest in the United Kingdom.

 Eurovision Song Contest organisers were recently in talks with BBC about possibility of hosting upcoming contest in United Kingdom. This came after Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra emerged victorious in  Eurovision 2022 contest, leaving or countries wondering if next year's contest would take place in winning country.

As per a report by Deline, BBC Director General Tim Davie said that UK will host event as Ukraine finds itself in midst of an ongoing war after Russian invasion.

Eurovision 2023 to be held in UK

UK is all set to host upcoming Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukriane after UK's Sam Ryder came second after Kalush Orchestra. Although it is a ritual for winning country to host following year's contest, same is t possible this time owing to Russia-Ukraine war.  European Brocasting Union anunced news as y mentioned contest could t be held in Ukraine due to 'safety and security reasons'.

Making anuncement, y said, "Following decision that, regrettably, next year’s event could t be held in Ukraine for safety and security reasons EBU explored a number of options with winning brocaster. As a result of discussions, BBC, as runner up in 2022 Contest, was invited by EBU to act as Host Brocaster for 67th Eurovision Song Contest."

 host city for event is yet to be decided and will be determined over next couple of months. decision will be taken after a bidding process, which will be launched this week.

Eurovision 2022 winners

Kalush Orchestra won Eurovision Song Contest for ir popular song Stefania. Soon after ir win, y auctioned trophy y received for $900,000 to raise funds for ir country's military, in view of Russian invasion.  President of war-torn Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, earlier pledged that he would ensure song contest would be held in Mariupol. However, Eurovision 2023 will w be held in UK, and city will be anunced in coming months.
