Far's Day 2022: Date

Far's Day is celebrated on third Sunday of June every year. This year, occasion will be celebrated on June 19, 2022. Since its inception in 1910, event is celebrated in a number of ways across world and across various tritions and regions. 

Far's Day 2022: History & significance

American Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart's daughter Sonora Smart Dodd, residing in Spokane, Washington, was responsible for establishing concept of Far's Day that has honoured fars from around world over years. Sonora's mor died at age of 16 while giving birth to her sixth child. Along with her far, Sonora raised her younger brors.

Sonora felt that fars needed recognition whilst listening to a church sermon about newly recognized Mor's Day. Out of utmost love and respect for her far, she approached  Spokane Ministerial Alliance and asked m to recognize her far's birthday, June 5, as Far's Day. However, y decided on keeping occasion on third Sunday of month. 

Over years, Far's Day became popular and was celebrated across nation. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a presidential proclamation in 1966 to officially declare  third Sunday of June as Far's Day.

While Far's Day is considered a holiday in many parts of world, in India, it is not case. Metropolitan cities of country largely observe day by organizing parties, special treatment or gifts for ir fars. Special prayers are also organized to pray for ir long and healthy life.
