Pakistan, who has been raising a hue and cry over the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir by PM Narendra Modi-led government hoping the world would notice and respond, has on Friday decided to ban the sale of CDs of Indian movies. This move is among a few other petty actions taken by the neighboring country to show it opposes the total integration of Kashmir with India. Reacting to the same, Asha Bhosale took to Twitter and asked people to leave gold and invest in Indian film CDs, as it will soon be in 'high demand'.
Meanwhile, speaking about the ban, Indian actor Raza Murad in an exclusive conversation with Republic TV stated that the decision taken by the Pak government is their loss and not India's, as the country was earning in crores from the revenue of the entertainment industry. "Ultimately, it is their loss. It is the public of Pakistan that is crazy after our films and they will watch it legally or illegally. It is a very tiny territory for us and it will not make even 0.5% difference to us".
This step comes after Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) banned the airing of advertisements featuring Indian artists and India-made products. "We have banned Indian advertisements and launched a crackdown on CD shops to confiscate Indian movies," Dawn newspaper quoted Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information, as saying.
She said the Interior Ministry had already started a crackdown on Indian movies in the federal capital and it would be expanded to other parts of the country soon in collaboration with the provincial governments. "Today the interior ministry raided some compact disc shops in Islamabad and confiscated Indian movies."
