Who is playing Margaret Thatcher in 'The Crown'? Gillian Anderson's role details revealed

makers of  Crown have roped in American actor Gillian Anderson to essay role of former Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher in its fourth season.  final two seasons of Netflix’s popular show would be covering 1990s and early 2000s. makers have also released a short teaser which showcases a glimpse of Margaret Thatcher along with Princess Diana who will be acting as catalyst to proceed with plot forward.

Gillian Anderson to essay Margaret Thatcher in Crown Season 4

Gillian is kwn for her performance as sex rapist Jean Milburn in show, Sex Education. She h also played FBI Special nt, Dana Scully in X-Files. actor is also kwn for playing socialite Lily Barth in movie, House Of Mirth. Apart from that, Gillian was also seen in series, Fall wherein she essayed role of DSU Stella Gibson.

trailer shows a sneak peek of Gillian as Margaret wherein she can be seen getting rey in mirror while donning her signature pearl earrings. It also shows actor as Conservative Prime Minister sitting in a church and dressing photographers outside her residence. trailer also showcases a glimpse of Australian actor Elizabeth Debicki who will be playing Princess Diana. Her portions revolve around her struggling with limelight and trailer concludes with her all geared up for marrying Prince Charles.

New cast members joining show

Recently, Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton have also joined cast of  Crown, where Oscar-minated actor Jonathan Pryce will play Prince Phillip in fourth and fifth season of series. Previously, actors Matt Smith and Tobias Menzies have played role of Prince Phillip in show. Imelda Staunton will be essaying character of Queen Elizabeth which was previously played by Olivia Colman and by Claire For prior to her. On or hand, Lesley Manville will portray character of Princess Margaret.

Speaking about show,  Crown is a historical drama created by Peter Morgan.  show depicts reign of Queen Elizabeth II. first season of show focused on period from Queen Elizabeth and Phillip’s marri to disintegration of her sister Princess Margaret’s engment to Group Captain Peter Townsend. second season showed period from Suez Crisis that took place in 1956 to retirement of Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and birth of Prince Edward.

third season shows period between years 1964 to 1977. It showcases two periods of Harold Wilson as Prime Minister and also introduces Camilla Shand. fourth season of Crown will show Ly Diana Spencer and Margaret Thatcher’s premiership. fifth and sixth seasons are expected to be final seasons and will be closing  series. final seasons will cover Queen Elizabeth’s reign in 21st century.
