Goo Hara's mother to get 40 per cent of singer's inheritance as ruled by court: Reports

After the saddening demise of K-Pop singer Goo Hara, her inheritance has reportedly been split up amongst her remaining family members. Here is the story.

K-Pop star Goo Hara was found dead at her home in Seoul on vember 24, 2019. According to recent reports from leading dailies, Goo Hara's mor who was claiming to receive half of singer's inheritance will w get 40 per cent of total. After a long wait of nine months, a South Korean family court ruled that inheritance would be split in a 6:4 ratio between Goo Hara's surviving family members. Gwangju Family Court had ordered Goo's bror Ho-in be given 60 per cent while Goo's estranged mor gets 40 per cent of late singer's inheritance, as reported by K-Pop news portal Soompi. Dispute over Goo Hara's inheritance

Goo Hara's mor had initially demanded a fair share of 50 per cent of late singer's inheritance, even though she lived in estrangement. Goo Hara's bror, on or hand, had filed a case against ir mor earlier in March. According to him, even though mor claimed to be of late singer's kin, she had part in ir daily lives, and thus did t deserve half of inheritance that late singer left behind.

Additionally, she had also given up parental rights and custody, making her much less of a claimant in Ho-in's perspective. Interestingly, far's share of inheritance has been passed on to Ho-in himself. As mentioned by Malay Mail, Korean law specifies that if someone dies without leaving a spouse or children, ir parents can receive ir inheritance even if y did t personally raise m, except in extremely rare cases such as murder or falsification of a will.

Goo Hara's Family Background

According to h Jong Eon, lawyer representing Ho-in, y were still looking to appeal  decision made by Court. As mentioned by Maeil business newspaper, h said that judgment was very unusual and would definitely take time to be sorted out. Previous reports about late singer revealed that she and Ho-in were left under care of ir grandmor at a very young . Goo Hara's far was involved in errands around country to fend for family. Ho-in opened up about ir mor's estrangement and said that his sister was left traumatised when mor abandoned m. Hara launched her solo career after performing with Kara from 2008 to 2015. She had just completed a tour of Japan with latest release of her single before her death.
