Maha: With no internet access, teachers paint walls with graffiti to teach kids amid COVID
Teachers used markers to draw diagrams and write text as students gathered around to learn, adhering to the social distancing norms amid coronavirus pandemic

Opting for an invative and creative method to impart lessons to kids, a school in Maharashtra has been painting walls of houses in vicinity with lessons to overcome challenges of unavailability of internet amid ongoing coronavirus crisis. According to a PTI report, students were unable to afford smartphones, refore lecturers at Asha Marathi Vidyalaya school, Maharashtra decided to use walls to teach kids. Teachers painted walls with lessons from textbooks in Nilamnagar to provide education to poor kids of vill despite lack of resources.
As many as 300 walls were used to teach students from Classes 1 to 10. Teachers used markers to draw diagrams and write text as students gared around to learn, hering to social distancing rms. Students took down tes from wall outside houses that were converted to makeshift writing boards. According to PTI, a teacher from Asha Marathi Vidyalaya primary school in Nilamnagar of Solapur said that it was in fact convenient for students to stand near walls following social distancing guidelines. re were a total of 1,700 students that were enrolled in primary school and secondary section of Shri Dharmanna Sul Prashala, as per PTI report. However, due to pandemic, students h access to education. And because most students came from humble backgrounds, y could t afford techlogical devices to be able to learn via online medium.

“Online education is new rm in current COVID-19 situation for which smartphones with good internet bandwidth is a must. But, parents of majority of our students do t have smartphones or any or gget, so online classes is a distant dream for m,” Gaikw said. refore, he ded, “We painted contents from textbooks on walls of houses in Nilamnagar by making m simpler, comprehensible and interesting.”
