When is Holi 2022?

While ritual of 'Holika Dahan' will be held on March 17, whereas 'Rang Panchami' will be celebrated all across country on March 18, 2022.

What is story of Holi?
Holi celebrated Hindu god Krishna and legend of Holika and Prahl. According to Hindu mythology, during Satyug era, re lived an evil king, Hiranyakashipu. With blessing of Lord Shiva, Hiranyakashipu became nearly invincible as he wished for everyone in his kingdom to worship him. evil king, who would act like a god, began killing those who disobeyed him.
However, his son namely Prahl was a religious worshipper of Lord Vishnu. King couldn't bear his son's disobedience towards him and hence devised a heius plan to murder him. Hiranyakashipu took help from his sister Holika, who h a magic cloak that protected her from fire. He asked her to sit on a bonfire with Prahl, by tricking boy. However, as fire roared, garment flew from Holika and covered Prahl. Holika burnt to death, Prahl came out unharmed. This event marked triumph of good over evil.

What is Holika Dahan?
According to tritions, 'Holika Dahan' is celebrated on first night of Holi. People all across country light bonfires as y throw grains, coconuts, wood onto m. This ritual represents death of Holika, reby triumph of good over b.

What is Rang Panchami?
On next day of 'Holika Dahan', people of all s smear each or with colour. Throwing coloured water for fun, devouring sweets are a few ways in which 'Rang Panchami' is celebrated. People believe that this trition began due to mischievous behaviour of Lord Krishna.
