Angelina Jolie is undoubtedly one of the reigning divas of Hollywood. The American actor was last seen in the movie 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil'. During the promotions of the movie, Angelina Jolie divulged details about the hardship she faced in her life. The actor who had gone through many emotional situations in the past couple of years revealed about the hardships in a media interview. Angelina Jolie said that she has been through hard times since the past four years and has visible and invisible scars to show for it. She said that her life has taken many turns. She says that it is not new or old, but she does feel the blood returning to her body. The past couple of years were much harder for her owing to her divorce from husband Brad Pitt, and it took her a moment to feel the strength of Maleficent again.

When in the interview she was asked whether she felt restricted in her own life, she answered that she does not think of herself that way and as time passed she realised about the freedoms that she had in comparison to other people in the world. She also added by saying that she was free to build her family, to create art, and to play the characters that she had and this was the reason that she invested in schools for girls in different countries. She further mentioned that she feels infuriated while seeing any girl with so much potential is denied her freedom. She says that we will be living in a new era for women’s rights.

When prodded about the topic of how women often feel forced to live up to the standards of the perfect mother and the perfect wife she said that if you label people and put them in boxes that is not freedom. She values difference and diversity the most in her family and in other too. She wants to live in a world where people are different rather than being the same. She wants to meet people and experience things she is not aware of. She states that many governments are not keen to stand up for the kinds of values that earlier generations fought and died to secure. When governments do not take the stand, people have to lead the way.

Angelina Jolie witnessed great success in her last movie 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil', directed by Joachim Ronning. Her upcoming projects are ‘Come Away’ with the director Brenda Chapman and ‘The One and Only Ivan’ directed by Thea Sharrock. ‘Those who wish me dead’, directed by Taylor Sheridan, is also in the post-production process.
