Anyone But You director opens up about poorly received teaser of Sydney Sweeney, Glen Powell's film

Will Gluck blames himself for poorly received teaser of Anyone But You. director and co-writer recently opened up about how a bid to keep story of romantic comedy slightly mysterious led m into erotic thriller territory - something which was never intention. Gluck also expressed an optimistic attitude towards film, w that its full-length trailer is out.

Will Gluck recently reflected on how misconstrued teaser for Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell starrer is, assuming responsibility on creative end. background score - namely, WizMc’s Death of Me - paired with fast-paced seductive shots, left impression of an erotic thriller rar than a rom-com - something which was definitely t plan. 

He said, "I blame myself. teaser wasn't well received and I put that completely on my own shoulders. We tried to get too cute with it. It is a big fun comedy, and if you saw that teaser without anything else, you'd think, 'Is someone going to get killed? Is this a thriller?' That was a mistake on my part. I just wanted people to lean in and say, 'What is this?'...People leaned in [to teaser] and said, 'I'm t going to like this,' which is t what movie is."

Will Gluck on what to expect from Anyone But You

Despite initial reception of teaser, Will Gluck is optimistic about fate of film at box office. This is owing to fact that full-length trailer of film, paints a much more accurate picture of what one can expect from film. 

He said, " movie an edgy R-rated comedy with romance and farcical elements. It's big music numbers and wish fulfillment. You get to see sunny Australia in middle of winter in West. That's what you're going to see in trailer. So wipe that (teaser) out of your memory."
