The Margot Robbie starrer now has another major milestone on the cards.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 has steadily maintained its position as Warner Bros' highest-grossing film across the studio's 100-year history. This 11-year-old record, however, will soon be surpassed by Barbie as it completes its fifth week at the theatres.

Barbie breaks box office records

Previously, Barbie broke Warner Bros' film The Dark Knight Rises' record of the highest first Monday collection. Barbie, in its first Monday post-release, minted $26 million at the box office in North America, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises previously held record of $24.6.Barbie also recently surpassed The Dark Knight as the highest-grossing domestic release (North America) in Warner Bros' history. Interestingly, The Dark Knight Rises is a Christopher Nolan directorial whose film was released alongside Barbie this July.

Among other records that the film broke is the highest-grossing opening weekend for a film directed by a woman. The Greta Gerwig film beat Captain Marvel, co-directed by Anna Boden. Previously, Patty Jenkins held the record for Wonder Woman's $103.3 million opening.

Barbie also holds the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for a film based on a toy. Previously, the record was held by Toy Story 4 which grossed $120.9 million during its opening weekend.
