Barry Jenkins unveils official title for 'Lion King' prequel; check release date

Disney Studios on Friday anunced that its much-anticipated movie "Mufasa: Lion King" is scheduled to come out in 2024.

film, a prequel to 2019's live-action " Lion King", is directed by Oscar winner Barry Jenkins. 

It is a story of rise of Mufasa to one of greatest kings in history of private lands, Jenkins said.

"Mufasa is origin story of one of greatest kings in history of private lands. story is told in two different time frames.... It's a story about how Mufasa rose to loyalty. 

"We assume that he was just born into his line, but it was actually an orphan who had to navigate world alone by himself. We get to experience real journey of how Mufasa found his place in circle of life," director said at ongoing D23 expo. 

" Lion King", a remake of 1994 animated classic, used invative techniques to create photorealistic animals and African landscapes.
