The war over electricity
The film’s trailer was released in June this year that gave a glimpse of the dramatic 19th-century war for electricity. According to reports, the film is based on true events and phenomenon that came to be known as 'war of the currents', the Martin Scorcese-produced thriller will focus on the journey of Thomas Edison, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, as he tries to use his DC technology to introduce light to Manhattan.

In the movie, Edison's initial efforts are obstructed by businessman George Westinghouse, played by Michael Shannon, and his business partner Nikola Tesla, played by Nicholas Hoult, who came up with the idea of inventing Tesla's own AC electrical current. The movie is scripted by Michael Mitnick, the film has been directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.

Introducing America to electricity
The film revolved around exploring Edison’s rivalry with entrepreneur Westinghouse and it chronicles the race to light up USA and the world in the 19th century, and how both men wanted to take control of the way electricity would shape the future.

The shots are designed and set in 1879 when Edison was ready to introduce America to electricity. The biopic delves into how his plans were thrown into disarray by charismatic businessman Westinghouse, who believed he and his partner Nikolai Tesla had a better idea for how to electrify the United States.

Edison and Westinghouse’s battle marked one of the first and greatest corporate feuds in the history of America. According to reports, Katherine Waterston will be playing to role of Westinghouse’s wife Marguerite Erskine, Tuppence Middleton as Edison’s wife Mary, Conor MacNeill as William Kemmler, the first person in the world to be legally executed using an electric chair, and Damien Molony as lawyer W. Bourke Cockran.
