Christopher lan, in an interview with a podcast host, spoke about how Tom Hardy's performance in Dark Knight Rises is yet to be fully appreciated for efforts that actor has put into his character. lan introduced Tom Hardy as Bane in third instalment of his classic Dark Knight film series. third instalment saw Christian Bale's caped cruser, Batman, square off against Tom Hardy as Bane in what turned out to be final chapter in character arc of Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman.

During one of interviews that Christopher lan h been a part of in connection to digital release of his latest directorial, Tenet, he was heard dwelling in past and bringing his third Batman film to forefront. While during an interview with host of MTV's Happy S Confused podcast, he spoke about efforts that Hardy put into physicality of antagonist and appreciated his ability to be able to emote only through his eyebrows and temple. While on subject of Hardy's Bane, lan spoke about Hardy's reshaping of his eyebrows for film, result of which, as per lan, bore resemblance to that of Marlon Brando.

While talking about criticisms that character received, lan spoke about how Hardy's muffled voice as Bane was one of lesser-appreciated characteristics by moviegoers and makers alike. During interview with podcast host, lan indulged in how he even received calls from fellow filmmakers regarding same.
