Cillian Murphy Suits Up As Thomas Shelby In Peaky Blinders Movie First Look

Cillian Murphy last featured in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer. The Christopher Nolan directorial earned massive critical and commercial acclaim. The actor, who played the titular role in the biopic, also headlines the British drama series Peaky Blinders, in which he essayed the role of Thomas Shelby. The actor will reprise his role in the movie based on the series. The makers recently released the first look of the actor.

First look at Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders

Streaming giant Netflix shared the first look at Cillian Murphy in character as the notorious gangster. Murphy and Steven Knight, the creator of the long-running series about the Peaky Blinders gang in post-World War I Birmingham, also posed for a photo together on set.

Oscar winner Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby in a Peaky Blinders movie, streaming platform Netflix has confirmed. Set to arrive on the streamer, the new film is made in association with BBC. It will be directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight. Murphy, who earlier this year won his first Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer, dedicated the upcoming movie to admirers of the series

The series, about the titular Peaky Blinders crime gang in the aftermath of the First World War, had ended with its sixth season run in April 2022 creator Knight had maintained he would like to continue the story "in another form". 

Harper, who helmed episodes of the show's first season in 2013, said he is thrilled that a Peaky Blinders movie is about to happen. Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan will also be seen in the Peaky Blinders movie.
