Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga starrer Joker: Folie à Deux is currently struggling at the box office. Now, a video of Phoenix from the Venice Film Festival is going viral that allegedly shows him mouthing that Joker 2 was “horrible”.  The video went viral on the internet, showing him talking to Lady Gaga after the movie received a standing ovation. Joker 2 serves as the sequel to Phoenix’s Oscar-winning performance Joker.

In a now-viral video, Phoenix is seemingly leaning in and whispering something in Lady Gaga’s ear. Netizens speculate that the actor said, “That’s horrible.” However, Gaga seems to disagree with him. An X user shared a video that allegedly used an AI lip reader to determine what the actors were saying in the video.

Joker 2 vs Joker India box office comparison

The much-anticipated Joker sequel turned out to be a box-office dud. The Hollywood film had huge expectations riding on it, but soon, review bombing on social media led to a titled perspective on social media, ultimately affecting its box office business. When compared to the successful run of the first installment which released back in 2019, Joker 2 collection is dismal, both in India and overseas.

After registering a decent opening of a little over ₹5 crore in India on October 2, the collection of Joker Folie a Deux has been on a steady decline, not even touching the ₹2 crore mark on any of the days since its release. The business on the weekends was no relief either. Overall, Joker 2 has collected ₹10.99 crore in India in its extended five-day first weekend.

Whereas back in 2019, Joker had collected ₹23 crore in India in its five-day weekend. The release date and time frame match but the collections are drastically different for the two movies which released in a span of five years.

The reported budget of the film is $200 million even as director Todd Phillips has denied claims. Others have it pegged at $190 million.
