"In Hollywood, actors are kind of like in-a-box. re are actors that can vie for a particular role because it allows for m to have a certain look, skin colour, size, etc.

"Fortunately, for me, re aren't a lot of guys at all who look like me. So, all of my roles, from beginning of my career, I've been a lucky son of a b***h that y've been created and designed for me except Jack Reacher," he said.

Johnson said at time Cruise was "biggest movie star in world, and I was t".

"I got call saying 'Hey, you didn't get role'. Look, I didn't even kw if I had a shot for it, but people around me at that time made me think that I did. I felt like I did, I felt like 'Why t me?'" he added.

However, actor later got chance to play Luke Hobbs in fifth installment of "Fast & Furious" franchise. And today, Johnson is one of highest-paid actors in Hollywood.

"I'm positive that role of Jack Reacher, because it was an established character, an IP that was well kwn and beloved around world, that I wouldn't have had creative to do what I wanted with character, he said.

"I look back in gratitude that I didn't get Jack Reacher," he added.

Cruise had played character in two films --2012's "Jack Reacher" and its 2016 sequel "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back".
