George Clooney's sister-in-law to serve in jail for drunk driving

The American actor, director, George Clooney's sis-in-law, Tala Alamuddin is about to serve time in jail for being convicted of traffic offenses in Singapore

The American actor-director, George Clooney's sister-in-law, Tala Alamuddin Le Tallec is about to serve time in jail for being convicted of traffic offenses in Singapore. According to the news agency, the older sister of the human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney pleaded guilty on October 14 to the charges against her which included drunk driving and driving without insurance. The fashion designer has received three weeks of jail time for her offences by the court after declining her plea of four charges including, drunk driving, using a car without a Singapore Class 3 driving licence, driving without insurance, and taking charge of the vehicle -- which belonged to her husband -- without the consent of the owner.

Singapore resident

Clooney's sister-in-law is a resident of Singapore and has also received a $6,400 fine and licensed revoked for nearly four years. Reportedly, at the time of her arrest, the 47-year-old had more than three times the amount of alcohol which is allowed in the system in Singapore. The arrest had occurred at 2:30 am, Le Tallec also had trouble while locating the handbrake of the vehicle and reportedly she stepped on the gas pedal while searching for her driver's license. The fashion designer had 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath and the amount allowed is 35 micrograms.

History of driving offenses

Le Tallec also has a history of offences in Singapore. After a drunk driving conviction in 2013, she was even barred from driving for nearly two years. Along with that, she was charged with careless driving in 2010 and inconsiderate driving in 2004. The owner of Totally Tala's lawyer, Sashi Nathan reportedly said that she was genuinely remorseful. The fashion designer started her own line after working as an events planner. It was on Sunday night when Le Tallec drove her car, BMW X5 to a restaurant in Demsey Road. She drove back home after having two glasses of wine along with a glass of champagne when she was stopped at Holland Road.
