Hollywood movies that can teach viewers the meaning of life

Here is a list of five Hollywood movies that one can binge-watch over the weekend; these movies will teach one the meaning of life

Besides being entertaining, movies are also a source of inspiration. Hollywood has a host of movies which have meaningful messages and will inspire one to lead a better life. Here is a list of such movies with a message that one should definitely watch:

The Blind Side

This Hollywood movie is based on the real-life of an African-American, Michael Oher who is taken in by Leigh-Ann and Sean Tuohy. His father's identity is unknown and his mother is a drug addict and he has had meagre education. But Leigh-Ann (Sandra Bullock) takes up his charge and enrols him in their school football team. She makes sure that he succeeds in life. With the Tuohy's help, Michael makes it to NCAA Division I athletic scholarship. Michael Oher was also the first-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft.

Dead Poet's Society

Robin Williams plays John Keating, an English teacher in a boy's school. In his own unique way, he to garner their interest teaches them poetry differently. He even motivates them to read poetry with feelings rather than just for the sake of studying. He teaches them to be their self and not cave into the demands of the status quo. This Hollywood movie beautifully shows, through the struggles of John Keating and his students, the evils that lay in the traditional institutions.

Forrest Gump

This Hollywood movie is based on a novel of the same name by Winston Groom.  The story is about a simple man with a low IQ from Alabama and his journey through life. He meets historical figures, influences popular culture, and experiences firsthand the historic events of the late 20th century. But all he is concerned about in life is to prove that anyone can love anyone. Tom Hanks plays the role of the titular character Forrest Gump.

The Bucket List

The Bucket List is about two men terminally ill crossing each others' paths in the hospital. They form a unique friendship and take a road trip together to fulfil their bucket list. The corporate billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicolson) and working-class mechanic, Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) have nothing in common except their terminal illness, but they help each other heal from the wounds that life had inflicted and finally find unadulterated happiness in life.

Life Is Beautiful

Life is Beautiful is a Hollywood movie based in the 1930s Italy when German armies were taking away Jewish people into concentration camps to be killed. A humble, carefree Jewish man (Roberto Benigni) tries to help his little son survive the horrors of the camps. He makes his son believe that the Holocaust is a game and the grand prize for winning it is a tank. The movie depicts the extent to which a parent will go to save their children from pain and terror. While the first part is comic, the second part of it is especially heart-wrenching.
