American thriller drama John Q kept audience on edge of ir seats because of its sympatic yet gripping plot. This Nick Cassavetes directorial released in 2002. plot of film revolves around a man who is told that his son needs a heart transplant. But his insurance company refuses to cover costs of this big surgery. In a desperate attempt to get hospital to do surgery, he holds doctors and patients in Emergency Room host. He demands that his son be put on organ dor's list and only n will he let hosts go safely. movie was well-received by audience but also made m wonder is John Q based on a true story?

Is John Q based on a true story?

According to a report by Distractify.com, re is real John Q. However, in film's commentary track between director Nick and James Kearnes, writer of movie, y were told by SWAT team advisors of a similar incident that took place in Toronto in 1998. A man called Henry Masuka rushed his son to  St Michael’s Hospital Emergency Room where he was told that re was  paediatrician on duty. 

To get hospital to see to his son's health immediately, Henry pulled out a gun which was wrapped under a towel and held doctor host. police were called in who shot and killed Henry. Henry's son was t injured in process and left home with his family. movie did stir sympathy in hearts of audience because it showcased how many people in United States were uninsured and those who did have insurance received expensive medical bills.

John Q cast was loved by audience for ir stellar performance in film. One of Hollywood's most rewned actors Denzel Washington played character of John Quincy Archibald, protagonist of film. cast of  film also starred Robert Duvall, Kimberly Elise, Anne Heche, James Woods, and Ray Liotta in prominent roles. music for film was composed by Aaron Zigman and it was released on February 15, 2002.
