Johnny Depp exits ‘Fantastic Beasts’ franchise, Warner Bros to recast Grindelwald
Johnny Depp stepped down from playing Gellert Grindelwald at Warner Bros' request. Now it is reported that the character will be recast in 'Fantastic Beasts 3'.

According to a report in Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures, studio behind Fantastic Beasts film series, has confirmed that role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. company has stated that Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production. project has also been postponed to summer of 2022. face has t been finalised yet. specific date has been anunced by makers yet.
Earlier, Johnny Depp essayed antagonist, Gellert Grindelwald in first two movies. actor was originally set to reprises character again in Fantastic Beasts 3. But Warner Bros. asked him to resign from series, a few days after Depp lost his libel case against Sun tabloid over a 2018 article alleging he was a “wife beater” to Amber Heard. He mentioned in a statement that he respects request and agreed to depart from series.

Colin Farrell is speculated to be top choice to play Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts 3 and ahead. He was seen in first film as Percival Graves, a high-ranking Auror and Director of Magical Security for MACUSA, responsible for protection of wizards. Spoiler Alert! In climax, it was revealed that Graves is Grindelwald in disguise. w as Johnny Depp has exited franchise, Farrell could again appear as character. However, confirmed news on recast has been made.
