Joker Folie a Deux Box Office Collection: The much-anticipated Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga starrer Joker 2 hit the big screens in India on October 2. While high expectations were riding on the Todd Phillips-directed sequel, its box office collection has been rather underwhelming. At the same time, negative reviews of the movie are also going viral on social media further spelling doom for the movie.

Joker Folie a Deux minted ₹7.75 crore in India in three days. The opening day collection was ₹5.15 crore (Wednesday) since then, the business has been continuously declining. Collection on Thursday was ₹1.35 crore, followed by ₹1.25 crore on Friday. The numbers are in stark contrast with the collections of Joker (2019) which emerged as a smash hit despite releasing alongside Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff War.

Joker, back in 2019, had opened to ₹5.15 crore and the collections were ₹3.35 crore and ₹3.65 crore in the coming days. Joker 2 is showing a negative trend as opposed to the first installment of the movie.

Joker Folie a Deux scores very low on Rotten Tomatoes

Joker Folie a Deux has not been an audience pick as well, not even close to the predecessor that earned Joaquin Phoenix an Oscar for Best Actor. The Joker sequel has a score of 34% on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is almost exactly the same, sitting at 36%. According to many, the additional musical element of the film did not sit well with the gritty tone that the first film set.

Meanwhile, the film is set to be the last for Phoenix’s Joker. After the premiere, the Walk The Line actor spoke about his weight loss for the film, which he said was more “complicated” than it had been with the 2019 original.
