Jon Favreau: Scorsese, Coppola have 'earned right' to criticise Marvel

American actor and filmmaker Jon Favreau who has directed Marvel's Iron Man and its sequel addressed Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola’s criticisms.

American actor and filmmaker Jon Favreau, who has directed Marvel's Iron Man and its sequel, addressed Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola’s criticisms of Marvel movie. He said y are free to criticize superhero movies as y have earned right to express ir opinions. Favreau is associated with Marvel Cinematic Universe as director of some of its films but he does t mind anything of Scorsese's remark who compared Marvel films to a me park and called m "t cinema". He also added that both of m are heroes and y have right to express ir opinions.

Favreau said he would t be doing what he is doing today if y did t point out at him. He said that y served as a source of inspiration. Favreau said that filmmakers are free to express whatever opinion y like. This came to limelight after Scorsese made his remarks on Marvel films when he called m "t cinema" at a press conference held at BFI London Film Festival. Godfar director Coppola agreed to his comments. Coppola said that Martin was kind and honestly said truth that it is t cinema. filmmaker added that Martin Scorsese saying Marvel pictures are t cinema is absolutely right.

Earlier Oscar-minated Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles said that he does t kw wher superhero films are bad as he has t watched any of films from Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Taika Waititi who has directed Thor: Ragnarok, produced by Marvel Studios reacted to comments of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese about Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and superhero movies. But strongest reaction came from actor Samuel L Jackson, who has featured in modern classics like Pulp Fiction. Jackson pointed out that t everyone is a fan of Scorcese’s film eir.
