Popstar, Taylor Swift has recently been allegedly accused of casting negative impact on the NHL's Los Angeles Kings team. The complains started pouring soon after the team declared that will be covering up the banner promoting ‘Lover’ during the home games at the Staples Center.
Team's misfortune with Swift's banner
The banner put up in year 2015, marked Swift's achievement for the most sold-out shows at the stadium. The team won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 2014 and advanced to the conference finals in 2013, while some fans criticised the fact thatit was either a coincidence or a misfortune that the team hasn't won a playoff series since the banner went up.
The worst record in the Western Conference
The team's performance has been declining ever since it hit the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst in the league. Michael Altieri, senior VP of marketing, communications, and content for the Kings and AEG Sports recently reported that the connection to the team’s fans is their major priority and through their engagement, they have made it clear that the banner shouldn't be part of their Kings game experience.
He also informed the media that the authorities didn’t have a problem covering it up as they saw it as an opportunity to prove the fans that they hear them. The Kings covered the banner ahead of their home opener against the Nashville Predators on Saturday and won 7-4. Despite the banner’s rejection by two-thirds of its pro team occupants, the Staples Center has no plans to remove the Swift banner from the arena.
