Laura Dern talks career with Sterling Brown: Marriage Story's Nora gave voice to women

Laura Dern who recently starred in the film Marriage Story and Sterling K Brown who was seen in the film Waves got together for a popular media portal segment and interviewed each other. In the interview, Laura Dern talked about her latest role in Marriage Story and her childhood aspiration of always wanting to become an actor. Read on to know more about the conversation these two seasoned actors had.

When Laura Dern met Sterling K Brown

Laura Dern who recently starred in the film Marriage Story alongside Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver was interviewed by Sterling K Brown who is known for his role as Randall Pearson on the hit TV show This is Us. In the interview, Laura Dern spoke about her role as a divorce lawyer in the film Marriage Story. Sterling K Brown asked Dern about how she found her way in the character that she played in the film.

Laura Dern responded to the question by stating that she had the great experience and privilege of working with the director of the film Noah Baumbach. She further revealed that she, Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Noah would have meals together as the writer-director Baumbach was writing the story. This led to Dern feeling close and intimate with the story as she could see the director building the film.

Furthermore, Brown asked Laura Dern regarding how much she liked the character of Nora in this film? Dern stated that the business of divorce is traumatizing. She did have some distaste and fear of playing such a character. She then went on to reveal that a monologue written by Noah Baumbach led her to discover the character and how right she was when it comes to protecting women and giving them a voice. Dern also said that her character allowed women to find their voice in a place where they are not acknowledged.

In the interview, when being asked about when did she decide on becoming an actor Laura Dern revealed that, she wanted to become an actor since the age of seven. She also revealed that even though her parents were actors they never pushed her to become one. In fact, Dern’s mother Diane Ladd never wanted her to seek acting as a career.
