Lewis Hamilton, the Formula 1 star in a recent post urged his fans to go Vegan and do their bit in restoring balance to the ecosystem. However, netizens were quick to call him a hypocrite as he reportedly contributed towards carbon emission through racing and burning tonnes of fuel. Even though he deleted the post, he still faced backlash on social media and became the center of the debate on October 16. “I am sad right now with the thought of where this world is going. I feel like giving up on everything. Shut down completely. Why to bother when the world is such a mess and people don't seem to care”, Lewis said.

Netizens reaction

The netizens believed that Hamilton was in no position to preach about saving the environment. One internet user commented “Owns a £25 million private jet, races cars for a living, has a £13 million car collection, owns a £3 million yacht. Avoided taxes on his jet using a tax avoidance scheme. Sponsored by Petronas, a Malaysian oil and gas company. Lewis Hamilton is a Grade A tw*t!”. Another Twitterati commented, “'Hi, my name is Lewis Hamilton and I am a race car driver who shreds through tyres and fuel emissions every day I'm on the track'. Who flies his dogs in a private jet, but don't eat chicken, coz that's wrecking the planet”.
