1. Scarface (1983)

Scarface is a 1983 crime thriller directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. Scarface stars Al Pacino as Antonio Tony Montana, who comes to Miami as a refugee who over time establishes himself as a powerful drug lord. Scarface is a remake of the 1932 film of the same name and is considered to be one of the greatest roles of Al Pacino. 2. The Godfather (1972)

The Godfather trilogy is considered as one of the best works in the crime genre. The Godfather is an adaptation of Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name. The Godfather shows a fictional Sicilian crime family based in the US who is being led by Godfather Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando). Al Pacino plays the role of Michael Corleone who never wanted to be a part of the family’s business but eventually finds himself taking over his father as the new Godfather. Al Pacino’s transition from Michael to the Godfather received critical acclaim and Pacino received an Oscar nomination for the same.

3.  The Godfather II (1974)

The Godfather II picks up right from the first part. But the second part also shows a parallel storyline of Vito Corleone’s childhood and his journey to becoming a crime lord or best referred to as the Godfather. Robert De Niro played the role of young Vito Corleone. Al Pacino portrays the Godfather very well as a character who works in the grey area and also the hardships faced by a Godfather regardless of his powers.
