Marvel developing 'Shang-Chi' film: Will he be key to the continuation of the Avengers?

Marvel Studios is developing a movie about its Shang-Chi martial arts superhero and has set "Wonder Woman 1984" writer Dave Callaham to pen the screenplay.

Marvel Studios is developing a movie about its Shang-Chi martial arts superhero and has set "Wonder Woman 1984" writer Dave Callaham to pen screenplay. 

According to Deline, project would act as superhero studio's first stand-alone movie with an Asian le. A director is t yet attached.

Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu, debuted in 1973's Special Marvel Edition 15, created by Steve Englehart and Thas creator Jim Starlin after an attempt to acquire comic book rights to television series "Kung Fu" fell through. 

son of infamous pulp villain Fu Manchu, Shang-Chi was trained as a martial artist assassin by his far, only to rebel against him and become a superhero inste. character was a massive success through 1970s, and was recently revived as a member of Avengers during 2012's Marvel w! Publishing event.

Shang-Chi has also me guest appearances in or titles such as "Marvel Team-Up", "Marvel Knights" and "X-Men".

Shang-Chi aside, Marvel has catapulted to top of trending charts on Tuesday with release of second and main trailer for Captain Marvel -- penultimate film in current iteration of series -- ahe of release of grand finale -- Avengers 4 in May 2019.
