Michael Douglas was awarded the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the concluding ceremony of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. In an interview with Republic, the actor-producer opened up about several aspects of his 55-year-long career in showbiz. On a lighter note, Douglas talked about his friend and The War of the Roses co-star Danny DeVito’s influence on his life.

Talking about DeVito or if he has been a bad influence on his life, Douglas labelled him as a “good boy” who happens to share a dark sense of humour much like his own. The Wall Street star said, “Danny and I, we were roommates when we first started our career. He is a good boy, he has always been a good guy. We have the same sense of humour, A little dark.”
When asked how is he now, Douglas shared that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star is doing good. “He is doing wonderfully. I just saw him. He’s going to a play on Broadway right now, a play with his daughter in the show. Very nice place and he is very happy. As we both get to our eighties, he’s doing super well.”
Producer Shailendra Singh went ahead and invited the The Rainmaker star to India on Douglas’ next visit to the country. The producer-actor claimed, “He would love it here. I would definitely do that.”
Michael Douglas-Danny DeVito's friendship timeline
Douglas and DeVito first worked together in the 1984 film Romancing the Stone. After that, the duo went on to share screen space in several projects like In The Jewel of the Nile (1985), The War of the Roses (1989), and Solitary Man (2009).
Their friendship goes back several years, the two lived together in a New York City apartment in the 1960s during the early days of their respective careers. In a 2015 interview, DeVito called his longtime friend “very unassuming, very sweet” on The Jonathan Ross Show.
