Reports of Chennai's extreme water crisis has reached global circles as Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio took to social media and expressed concerns over the deep crisis.

Reports of Chennai's extreme water crisis has reached global circles as Acemy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio took to social media and expressed concerns over deep crisis. 

Sharing a picture of women trying to draw water from an empty well with help of ropes while a dozen plastic pots lie on sides of well, DiCaprio said that "Only rain can save Chennai from this situation".

In an elongated post on water crisis in city, Hollywood superstar has said that  acute water short has forced  city to scramble to find solutions as residents are being forced to stand in queues to fill water. He furr pointed out that as water level is depleting, hotels, restaurants in city have been shut down temporarily.

state of Tamil Nu, especially cities like Chennai are facing acute water scarcity for almost two months w.  city is provided from four reservoirs - Poondi, Chembarambakkam, Puzhal and Cholavaram whose capacities have dipped below 1% of demand hence fail to supply water to Chennai. city receives its water from its three main desalination plants and or tankers and pipelines.

Chennai city requires around 850 Million litres of water per day out of which only 525 MLD of water is only been supplied every day to city through metro tanker lorries which was agreed by municipal corporation minister SP Velumani during a press conference.

streets of Chennai has seen people standing with plastic pots everywhere for several hours a day from, people who have booked a tanker lorry and waiting for several days to get it delivered to ir doorsteps because of high demand.
